A note by ‘Abd al-Husayn Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk (Taymurtash), apparently to himself, regarding how Surur al-Saltanah has stopped writing to him after a letter in which he complained to her. He is concerned with the situation he has put himself in and decides to not write to her for now.

‘Abd al-Husayn Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk (Taymurtash) writes to Surur al-Saltanah expressing his love and his sadness that Surur was given a hard time. He is hopeful that they soon find a good house, and if he could not find a place in a few days, he would ask Nayyir al-Muluk so they could stay in their quarters for a while. He once again says how sorry he is that he has not been able to find a house yet.

‘Abd al-Husayn Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk (Taymurtash) writes to Surur al-Saltanah: he is happy that Surur is recovering, mentions the name of the little boy [who has recently died] as Mustafa Qulikhan. He talks about receiving a letter from ‘Iffat al-Muluk [his sister] in Khurasan, in which she has written about Khanum Buzurg's illness that Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk thinks is because of Mustafa's death. He also mentions receiving Salar's letter, then continues to talk about his longing for Surur al-Saltanah.

He mentions how much he misses her and complains that when he was in Tehran and insisted on seeing Surur al-Saltanah, she would put it off and now that he is away she says that she misses him, and he asks her whether she will agree to meet with him when he is back. Correspondence of Surur al-Saltanah and ‘Abd al-Husayn
Correspondence of Surur al-Saltanah and ‘Abd al-Husayn Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk (Taymurtash): on the first page, Surur al-Saltanah writes to Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk complaining about not getting a letter from him and explains her good intentions regarding her previous remarks. On the second page, Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk expresses his happiness on receiving a letter from her, mentions that he had been miserable when Surur had stopped writing to him, and he is so happy now that he is writing this letter while in bed with a fever and will send it with one of the orderlies in the morning.

‘Abd al-Husayn Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk (Taymurtash) writes to Surur al-Saltanah and tells her that he is sending her a shawl, a turquoise ring, a pair of diamond earrings, and a turbah that he has blessed in Khurasan; he had purchased them all in Mashhad. ‘Abd al-Husayn Mu‘azzaz al-Mulk (Taymurtash)'s letter to Surur al-Saltanah, writing about the relationships of men and women in Europe, that Iranian men dismiss their own wives and look for love and pleasure outside of their marriage while it is different in Europe, as men and women love each other and they prefer to spend their time with each other rather than with others. However, this is not Iranians' fault either, as they sometime are married when they are five or six, without their personal choice.
